MP Commends NSA for High-speed Sports Developmen
Honourable Member of Parliament Madam Fatmata Serah Soukenah of West-East Urban District has lavished praises on the National Sports Authority (NSA) for developing sports in Sierra Leone.
She made this public commendation during the NSA 2025 budget appropriation hearing at the State Hall Committee Room Six on Tuesday, 3rd December 2024.
“The creation of the NSA in 2017 has transformed and re-positioned the sports sector in the country.
“With the recent appointment of Dr. Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai as the Executive Director of the NSA, sports has become more lucrative. Government needs to invest more in the industry,” the MP said.
On the specifics, Hon. Tamba Seimoen Johnny urged the NSA to prioritize other sporting disciplines such as cricket, volleyball, basketball, and swimming as they bring laurels to the country year in year out.
Speaking during the hearing, Dr. Abdulai called on parliamentatians to advocate for the allocation of more resources to sports infrastructural development.
“NSA is as important as other MDAs. It creates immediate employment for the youths of this country.
“Our 2025 budget focuses more on infrastructural development across the country rather than competition. Therefore, I wish to plead with you, our law-markers, to consider our budget and to add more in order to take sports development to every region and district of the country, ” Dr. Abdulai said.
