On Friday, 25th April, 2025, Dr. Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai, NSA’s Executive Director, visited Lyngby Boldklub Denmark, as part of ongoing efforts to enhance sports infrastructure in Sierra Leone.
The visit was facilitated by Cecelia Haureberg, Chief Executive Officer of FANTZ DK, who led the team to engage with a company responsible for the installation of artificial turf at the renowned Danish football club.
This landmark visit aligns with Dr. Abdulai’s broader vision to transform sports facilities across Sierra Leone, providing youth with safer and more modern spaces to engage in sports.
The delegation was warmly received by the Operations Manager Mr. Lars Poulsen of company City Lawn, who expressed appreciation for the visit. He assured Dr. Abdulai and his team that the vision is indeed achievable and that the necessary legal channels would be followed to ensure full support for the initiative in Sierra Leone.
In his remarks, Dr. Abdulai emphasized the long-term impact of transitioning from hard, unstructured pitches to modern artificial turf fields. “The story of these transformations will be told for generations. Such developments will not only improve the quality of play but also serve as a tool for youth empowerment, steering them away from harmful behaviors such as substance abuse,” he said.
Bob Rogers, a representative from FANT Sierra Leone, expressed gratitude to the company for their interest and commitment. “This visit signifies a step forward in realizing Dr. Abdulai’s vision, and we are deeply thankful for the support being extended toward developing sports infrastructure in our country,” he noted.
