Axed Premier League Board Chairman Victor Lewis, in a farewell statement, expressed his concerns not to be caught up in power struggle within the Exco and the National Football Politics.
Lewis was shown the exit door on Monday evening after row broke out between the President of the Sierra Leone Football Association Thomas Daddy Brima and his Exco Members regarding his reappointment amid non-payment of prizes won by Premier League winner Bo Rangers and runner-up Bhantal FC.
As Magistrate Mark Ngegba is made to succeed Lewis in a swift turn to end the backlash, Victor underscored that a faction of the Exco had wanted to use him as a scapegoat in their infighting.
While he wholeheartedly respected the decision of the EXCO, he vowed to work hand in glove with the new board chairman.
“The Premier League financial records and reports for 2023/24 were submitted to the appropriate authorities,” he noted.
He further revealed that he had already renegotiated a great deal of sponsorship for the forthcoming premier league, which, he said, triples the financial support from the previous main sponsor.
He expressed his gratitude to the Government of Sierra Leone, the National Sport Authority, Leone Rock, Union Trust Bank, and the Sierra Leone Football Association.
He thanked those who believe in his vision and encouraged those who have a negative perception about him to have a rethink.
“I have always found pride in serving as board chairman,” he concluded.
