This move is aimed at ending the perennial electricity crisis by ensuring uninterrupted power at hostels, lecture room, research hubs and labs. It is estimated to positively impact over 7,000 students and staff at the Makonde campus.
According to Myk Berewa, the project which is scheduled for unveiling in mid 2026 will be supported financially by World Bank.
If successful, this initiate will not only mitigate the intermittent power-cut at the University but also reduce the monthly diesel expenditure of $40,000.
Transforming to Solar will offer a green, cost effective solution and prevent the environment from carbon monoxide.
Staff and students extended their heartfelt gratitude for such an ambitious project.
