Geopartners to Commence New Multi-Client 3D Seismic Survey in SL

The GeoPartners on Monday 9th May 2025, announced its commencement of a new Multi-Client 3D Seismic acquisition offshore in Sierra Leone.

This move signifies GeoPartners’ commitment to provide cutting-edge geophysical data to unlock the exploration of potential emerging and frontier basins.

The project is geared towards the mobilization of the sematic vessel, which is said to be transiting in the operating area.

The survey is supported by industry prefunding to showcase strong confidence from the global E&P in Sierra Leone prospectively

The project will be jointly executed by both GeoPartners and Petroleum Directorate in Sierra Leone.

The acquisition is slated to commence with the first shot point in mid-June with an anticipated duration of approximately 6 weeks.

The acquisition will use a specified long-offset towed streamer configuration. Its data will undergo a modern advanced processing sequence to produce both time and depth volumes.

The Director and Founder of GeoPartners, Gim Gulland, has inspected the BGP prospector vessel. “This project is a crucial step, significantly enhancing the country’s exploration potential and accelerating its pursuit of commercial hydrocarbon discoveries,” he said.

The new multi-client 3D seismic survey in Sierra Leone represents a strategic investment in the region’s energy future, providing essential data to attract future exploration and development.
