The Minister of Information and Civic Education(MICE), Chernor Bah, on Tuesday 13th May 2025, said the call to dissolve the Board of the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) is practically impossible as the composition is statutory.
He said this during a meeting involving staff of SLBC, the Director General, and the Board, stating that the Board hires and fires staff ranging from the deputy director general to office assistant.
Minister Bah began by clarifying that no staff at the SLBC is paid six hundred Leones (SLe 600) or below and that they are working hard to make things better.
On staff demanding the publication of the ACC report on the SLBC investigation, Minister Bah said such documents on investigation are confidential but that the ACC normally publishes a summary of such reports, a reason he called on them to request for the documents from Commissioner Francis Ben Kaifala.
He assured that the strike action has been resolved as they are working jointly to address the challanges of staff.
“I’m the supervisory Minister of SLBC. There was no formal complaint made to me prior to the strike action by any member of staff,” he added.
