Western Area Urban is leading MPox infection cases according to Wednesday’s daily update from the National Public Health Agency.
The Area in question has recorded 1,059 total confirmed MPox cases with ten deaths nationwide, while 294 people have recovered from the virus.
There have been destressing calls from members of the public for MPox to be treated with utmost seriousness to curtail its spread.
The virus is present in all the 14 districts of Sierra Leone with Port Loko leading the chart, recording 21 confirmed cases.
Falaba, Moyamba, Pujehun, and Bonthe have recorded the least cases (2 each).
The availability of only 16,000 vaccines for eight million people is still a major challenge in the fight against MPox.
Health officials are calling on all and sundry to follow preventive measures as the disease is contagious, mostly transferred through bodily fluids.
