Big Boost! UAE Donates 20,000 MPox Vaccines to Salone

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has donated 20,000 MPox Vaccines to support Sierra Leone’s fight against MPox.

The vaccines are scheduled to arrive at the Freetown International Airport on Sunday, 1st June 2025.

The Sierra Leone Ambassador to the UAE, on behalf of the President and people of Sierra Leone, has extended his deepest gratitude to the UAE for the kind and timely assistance.

The country previously had a little above 6,000 vaccines, a reason they decided to vaccinate key population including health workers.

The UAE has been a supportive partner to Sierra Leone over the years.

MPox has been scorching the country since its first confirmed cases were announced on the 10th January 2025.

As of Wednesday May 28 2025 the country has clocked a total of 3,254 confirmed cumulative cases of which 1,516 is active. The death toll has risen to 15 while 1,723 have recovered.
