The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed for an indictment against one Mohamed Koroma for academic malpractice contrary to Section 123 (3) of the ACC Act No. 2 12 of 2008, as amended by the Anti-Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2019.
According to the Press Release dated 23rd April 2025, the said Mohamed Koroma was caught attempting to impersonate one Kelfala Yusuf Koroma in the November/ December 2024 Private WASSCE, at the Saint Francis Secondary School (Center 004) in Makeni.
It further revealed that on the 18th November 2025, the examination supervisor observed that the personal details on the candidate identity documents did not match the individual who presented himself to write the exam. Further rigorous verification process was conducted by the Supervisor and Branch Controller of WAEC in Makeni, which confirmed that the legitimate candidate, Kelfela Yusuf Koroma, was absent.
The investigation unearthed that the impersonation scheme was facilitated by one Amadu Beckham Sesay who confessed in coordinating the malpractice including making payment of one thousand Leones (SLe 1,000) as part payment in advance out of a total agreed sum of Two Thousand Leones (SLe 2,000).
ACC Commissioner Francis Ben Kaifala says he is committed to curbing examination malpractice and other forms of corruption in Sierra Leone.
