ASP Daniel Koroma Becomes New Officer Commanding of Yele Police Station

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Daniel Koroma will on Friday 20th June 2025 assume duty as the new Officer Commanding (O/C) of the Yele Police Station following his remarkable achievements in the Sierra Leone Police force over the years.

Enlisted on the 17th August, 2008, ASP Koroma has served the force for over seventeen years with an impeccable character.

Of this period, he spent fourteen years at the Police Headquarters, Human Resource Directorate, where he worked in almost all the units.

He has served in different formations, divisions, and stations, including

Eastern Police Division, Mile 91 Division, Central Division, Mountain Division Regional Headquarters Freetown West, etc.

His last deployment was with the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia ( ATMIS), which was later named African Union Support and Stabilisation Mission in Somalia ( AUSSOM).

In the mission theatre, ASP Koroma worked as second in Command of the Public Security and Intelligence Unit ( PSIU) from January 2024 to May 30, 2025.

He has also served as an Advisor in Mogadishu, Somalia, with the African Union Mission in Somalia ( ATMIS).

He went through the police ranks and earned promotions to various tiers as follows:

promoted to the rank of Sergeant on 27/3/2014

Promoted to Inspector on 19/12/2017

Promoted to Assistant Superintendent ( ASP) on 22/12/2021.

By academic qualifications, ASP Koroma holds the following papers:

Diploma in Information Studies and Knowledge Management (Distinction),

Bachelor of Arts in Information Studies and Knowledge Management (first class), Master in Science in Violence, Conflict, and Development Studies from The School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London. This institution is the second best university in the world in development studies.

He has attended a series of in-service courses, including community policing, Computer Studies and Database Management, etc.

He is a proud Commonwealth Scholar and Alumnus of the School of Oriental and African Studies.

Many Commonwealth Scholarships are aimed at candidates who want to contribute to the development of their home country and are often expected to return home after your studies.
