From January 10 to Friday, 3rd May 2025, MPox has infected around one thousand one hundred and forty individuals, claiming the lives of 9 people, according to a new government update.
Thirteen out of the 14 districts in Sierra Leone have recorded a case of Mpox, except Koinadugu.
Report states that Sierra Leone has only received a consignment of 61,300 Mpox vaccine, which is being rolled out to key populations, including front-line workeworkers.
A total of 1,226 people have been infected by the outbreak,while 294 have recovered.
There has been a series of testimonies from survivors that they contacted Mpox through bodily fluids, especially during sexual intercourse.
This is a call for the National Public Health Agency to do more in sensitizing the public on Mpox and its preventive measures.
