Sierra Leone’s Minister of Works and Infrastructure Dr. Dennis Sandy is making headlines for allegedly forging divorce proceedings against his wife, Mary Kai Sandy.
Law firm Betts and Berewa Solicitors said its name was used in court documents without its consent to fraudulently obtain a Decree Absolute on November 27th, 2024, a reason the law firm is seeking NLe 2.5 million as reputational harm and strained professional relationships.
In the same breath, a letter from Michael and Michael Solicitors representing Mrs. Sandy posited that the decree was obtained through fictitious and possibly criminal means as she was never personally served and no court record exists.
The matter, which has the elements of Forgery and Judicial manipulation, is still under investigation by the judiciary.
