The Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC) in a press release dated 28th April 2025 has postponed the conduct of the ruling SLPP lower level elections.

This decision, according to the PPRC, is a result of numerous petitions against the Party’s published executive list for the conduct of the elections.

The petitioners are of the view that the list has been doctored, resulting in the omission and or replacement of genuine winners of the prior electoral process.

The Commission, in its wisdom, thought it fit that the conduct of the said elections under such circumstances could cause chaos and violence within the Party.

PPRC further posited that the elections will proceed once the executive list is harmonized and the concerns raised in the petitions are satisfactorily addressed.

The Commission revealed that the harmonization of the executive list will commence on Wednesday 30th April 2025, in the presence of the district chairpersons together with members of affected sections/zones, and chiefdoms/constituencies.
