Newly promoted Premier League side Star Sport Academy have appointed Amidu Karim as their new Head Coach after they parted ways with Tamba Ngongou on mutual consent.
The former Leone Stars Head Coach signed a two-year contract with his new side for an undisclosed fee after his 1 year and four months spell with Leone Stars came to an abrupt end early this year.
Karim is tasked not only to lead Star Sport Team A to success in the ongoing Sierra Leone Premier League but also to supervise the Club’s lower level teams and help develop players for the market.
At their Pademba Road Office on Thursday ,Star’s CEO Mohamed Jusu Tarawally Esq said they have made unprecedented progress since Star came into existence in 2022. He delved intothe Club’s international success and shed light on catching players young.
“With the coming of an experienced coach like Amidu Karim, we are sure to make more gains,” he said.
Speaking, Amidu Karim disclosed many clubs contacted him just after his spell with Leone Stars. “I looked at the projects they have. I saw that Star Sport are more concerned with nurturing young players, and nurturing players is my job. This was how I considered Star Sport,” he said, expressing his readiness to work with the Club and to ensure a smooth player transition from the lower side to the top tier.
“We are also here to contest for the top spot in the Premier league. The nature of the job is to do well,” he added.
The former Leone Stars Head Coach has had an amazing experience in club football. He spent 12 years at FC Kallon before assuming other roles.
