The Executive Director of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Dr. Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai Esq has revealed that Government used sports to create over 3,000 jobs for Sierra Leoneans within 8 months.

He made this revelation while speaking at the Ministry of Information and Civic Education Weekly Press Briefing on Tuesday, October 1, 2024.

The NSA Boss said the move is consistent with Government’s Big Five Game-changers, which seek to create 500,000 jobs for the youths.

He went on to say that NSA’s 2025 Budget includes the renovation of sports centres countrywide to promote sports.

Dr. Abdulai told journalists that making sports attractive will reduce crime and substance abuse.

He shed light on the continental uplighting of the African Traditional Games and Sports with its President Michael S. Mustapha being a Sierra Leonean.

He said they are set to host a major event in Sierra Leone, which houses the Federation’s secretariat.

“Gone are the days when athletes have to wait a whole year to grace just a single competition. We will now host four competitions nationally to keep the boys and girls fit for upcoming international competitions,” he added.

He ended by encouraging all to support the development of the National Sports Basket Fund for sustainable progress.
