The Executive Director of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Dr. Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai,  has urged Chinese GCIGC Group to expedite the completion of the National Stadium.

He made this call during NSA’s visit to the site early on Friday.

Addressing GCIGC leadership, Dr. Abdulai said the delay is affecting  Government and Sierra Leoneans alike. “Government is spending millions of dollars each time we go out to play our home matches, and that is huge,” he remarked, urging  the Chinese company to do the needful as NSA is determined to use the facility for more revenue generation.

He then took a conducted tour of the areas under renovation.

During the tour,  Dr. Abdulai suggested that the dressing room in the main bowl be redesigned to meet FIFA standards.  He made similar comments about the status of the pavilion at the basketball court, the restrooms, and the perimeter fence.

In response, the Chinese engineers said the delay came amid Government’s demand for the installation of plastic seats. They revealed that efforts are underway to hand over 70 percent of the Project by the end of November.
